In 2014, we founded the association Zuflucht e.V. in Müllheim to enable the many refugees an optimal integration, supervised by volunteers. The encounter with, for example, the Gambian refugees in Müllheim im Breisgau, their reports and the circumstances on the ground have affected us.
The continuously growing number of arrivals very soon led to questions about “why” and a “what now …”. Gradually it became clear that there was a need for action here that could not be provided by public agencies. “We need to go there and understand firsthand what’s going on.” A mix of perceived urgency and diffuse curiosity first set Samuel Gebert in motion. In July 2016, he set out to explore the country & people of The Gambia by bicycle. As was to be expected, his „grassroots report” described a rather complex reality of conditions and – if you listened closely – very diverse reasons for leaving the country to risk the literally life-threatening journey via the “backway” to Europe. The real challenge – namely to build a sustainable perspective for life “at home” despite all adversities – would be tackled much better there on the spot. And the best way to achieve this is to recognise what is already there. This gave rise to the idea of providing training in The Gambia.
TeSito Providential Developments was founded for this purpose in 2018 as a non-profit company in Germany and in 2021 the partner company of the same name was founded in Gambia by Gambian friends. TeSito in the German sense means “rolling up one’s sleeves” in the Gambian sense “tying up one’s skirt” to be able to work in the rice field.. Yes, there are enormous prospects in The Gambia. It’s worth training for it.

We want to support people in rural regions at eye level.
We form a partnership with the Gambian company of the same name based on very similar statutes. We focus on regenerative agriculture and the development of farm businesses (compound businesses)
The aim of the two TeSito companies is to significantly reduce poverty among the rural population, and in particular to improve the living and working conditions of women, the qualifications of young adults and the associated development of the communities.
We offer people future-proof training with practical and real-life skills. With the support and encouragement of friends, especially from Germany, we promote the modernization and development of cooperatives and small businesses or farm businesses (compound business) and (in the future) intra-African trade in products and services from The Gambia.
We want to create what we call a “breathing blueprint” in The Gambia that transcends national borders for the for the development of skilled professions and the creation of jobs around sustainable, climate-resilient organic agriculture, crafts and services.
People are often unreasonable, Illogical and self-concentrated;
Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false Friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.
T’he good you do today, People will often forget tomorrow;
Be kind anyway.
What you spend years building, Someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, They may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.
People pity losers, but they only follow winners.
Still fight for some of the losers.
People really need help, but they may attack you if you help them.
Help these people anyway.
Give the world the best you have, And it may never be enough;
Give the world your best anyway.
You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God;
It was never between you and them anyway..

In the Central River Region, we initiated the targeted promotion of junior women’s soccer in school sports. To that end, in the third quarter of 2022, we spoke with the Region 5 North Central River Region School Board, which selected 20 schools in the region.
Under the motto : “Fostering Health, Education & Football”, in addition to the purely sporting aspects, the main focus is on raising awareness of a healthy lifestyle (fitness and nutrition), strengthening personal development and professional orientation.
Important milestones will be the organization of regular workshops for sports teachers and training camps for the schoolgirls as well as the annual TeSito Junior Girls’ Football Cup.
Financially, this initiative is made possible by a team of sponsors from German professional soccer.
We were able to recruit Adama Jarju as an ambassador, who now trains the teachers, and whose cause has been girls’ soccer in The Gambia for years. She founded the Yakarr Football Academy a few years ago and is involved in the Gambian Football Association for Gambian junior women’s football. We met in 2020, not through football, but through their social commitment to their place and the environment. Auf der Seite Mädchenfussballund im Bantaba (Blog) werden wir über alle unsere Aktivitäten berichten. We appreciate any donation for it. This will allow us to reach even more schools in The Gambia and support their students.
